ACCESS CONTROL CASE STUDIES

A selection of case studies done by an independent company covering some of our recent works and installations.

The Client
Sovereign House is a contemporary modern building, and provides high quality, air conditioned office accommodation over four floors. The building has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment programme, which has added a spectacular glazed atrium to the heart of the building. The reception has been redesigned along with works to refurbish office floors. There is also secure parking on site.

The building is a facility managed office building, providing tenants with a variety of services including secure parking and reception security staff.
Some floors are split into areas and some are occupied entirely by a single tenant.

The Situation
Following a full refurbishment to the complete building there was a requirement to upgrade security, and with such a modern contemporary look it was important that the new system fitted all technical requirements as well as fit in with the look of the building. The requirements were to enable authorised personnel and tenants to come and go freely within their designated areas and throughout the common areas of the building, and at the same time providing a secure environment.

The Solution
A 50 door Guardpoint Pro system was installed on site using the stylish colour LED backlit Sensor Proximity and Pin readers as well as long range reader for the car park. The integrity of the security is not lost if a card were to become lost or stolen access because all external doors have Sensor Proximity and Pin readers, requiring both pin code as well as the proximity card to be presented to gain access. The car park is also being managed by GuardPoint Pro Parking Module which allows for counting in and out and limiting entrants to the number of spaces available. Internally the lift is controlled by the GuardPoint Pro Lift Module, tenants are only able to access the floors that their card permits. Each of the designated areas are controlled and can only be accessed by authorised personnel and facility managers.

Highlights
The system was installed over the client's existing TCP-IP network which minimised installation costs. This also meant minimal decorative disruption for the building.

The Benefits
With the new GuardPoint Pro system the building managers now have full reporting on who has accessed the building and when. They are also able to issue cards to each tenant allowing access only at certain times and days.

This is an employee co-owned partnership with a social mission to make healthcare simpler, better and smarter value for patients. They form the largest partnership of healthcare professionals in Europe. The hospital is co-founded, co-run and co-owned by clinicians. Because the consultants and healthcare professionals who work for them own the facilities they work in, they are empowered to put patients first in everything that they do.

The Situation
The new hospital required a 40 door access control solution to meet with a tough technical requirement and fit with the modern style of the new hospital. There were also an additional 27 internal low security doors that a separate low cost solution was being considered for.

The Solution
The main 40 doors of the system are now being controlled by a GuardPoint Pro system, ensuring authorised entrants only, providing patient and staff safety. For the internal doors, which were important to control, 27 wireless cylinder locks were installed. These are all managed from GPP and offered the client a more cost efficient option where lower security, remote controlled functions were required.

Highlights
There were a number of doors that were not originally planned to be managed under a separate system. The Guardpoint Pro now manages these doors, utilising wireless cylinder locks that are operated with the same cards used for the main system. This means that the hospital now only need to have one front end and one system to administer.

The Benefits
The wireless cylinder locks have provided a clean and easy solution for the internal doors with no structural alterations needed. This has meant a fully integrated lower cost option for the client. The locks also offer a great energy saving efficiency for the hospital.
